As one of the most convenient places to live in the entire greater Wilmington area, Pine Valley is a very popular choice. With street names like Beaureguard, Jeb Stuart, Pettigrew and Stonewall Jackson, a drive through this large and lovely neighborhood provides a mini-history lesson! The active set loves this ideal midtown location that encompasses the Pine Valley Country Club, Echo Farms, the Muni, and Cypress Island. In addition to being minutes from everything that's anything and in a top-rated school district, Pine Valley is situated along the new Gary Shell Cross-City Trail. When complete, it will provide a future bicycle and pedestrian connection from Wade Park, nearby Halyburton Park and Empie Park to the Heide-Trask Drawbridge at the Intracoastal Waterway.
Heading further south along 132 towards Carolina Beach brings us to Monkey Junction.
More than one visitor has chuckled when learning the name of this now bustling crossroads. In the 1950s when the pace was much slower, a gas station owner advertised that his was the only place to see a live monkey on the way to Carolina Beach. Not only did the ploy drum up business, Monkey Junction became a popular tourist attraction!
Today, the monkeys are gone, but the "junction" is a hub of activity that provides its residents with just about everything they could possibly need. Along with big box retailers, banks, medical facilities and outstanding restaurants, there are also noteworthy schools and a public library branch. Nearby neighborhoods include golf communities and waterfront properties on the waterway and Cape Fear River. Masonboro Island and the north end of Carolina Beach are just a quick boat ride or paddle away! In under half an hour it's possible to cross the Snow's Cut Bridge and drive to the beautiful beaches of Pleasure Island, historic Ft. Fisher and the N.C. Aquarium!
Seeing is believing which is why, we'd love to show you a few of our wonderful listings in Pine Valley and Monkey Junction!
