While much of Wilmington continues to make a fast and furious comeback, recovery from Hurricane Florence is still in its infancy.

We've seen this community's true colors in the last couple of weeks, and what magnificent colors they are.

The examples of giving, restoring, and rebuilding are endless - groups feeding hungry lineman who immediately poured in from across the country to restore power to sections of Wilmington within a few days, and to much of the city within a week; people delivering food from door to door; food trucks dedicating weeks to giving away food and water to those in need; neighbors helping neighbors; restaurants feeding neighborhoods; and on and on.

There are far too many stories of heroes, givers and do-gooders to tell in one short blog. So instead, we'd like to dedicate this month to communicating all of the post-Flo goodness going on in and around Wilmington. Because time is of the essence, we'd like to start with this robust downtown small business collaborative.

Flo meant business. But, local small businesses in downtown, Wilmington and Wilmington Downtown, Inc. aren't backing down. Instead, we're coming together. CSP is proud to partner with the Over Flo crew to help Wilmington and surrounding areas rebuild and recover. This month the giving portion of every CSP commission will be dedicated to #overflo efforts. And, many local businesses are creating specials, events, and selling products that will directly benefit Over Flo and the organizations it's built to serve..

Here are few participating businesses you'll want to frequent this month:

     • Yosake

     • Manna

     • The Husk

     • Anne Bonny's

     • Tavern Law

     • Boombalatti's

Our little collaborative is growing rapidly, so be sure to ask about #overflo specials wherever you see the #overflo logo.

The goal of Over Flo is to raise 10k in the month of October, which, if met, will be matched by a private donor under the moniker of Friends from Iowa.  Funds will go directly to area charities including Nourish NC, Salvation Army, Food Bank of Eastern NC, Good Shepard Center, and Cape Fearless Challenge.

So, if you're planning an evening or a day on the town, plan around a few of these events to help support the area you love.
